Christians urged to allow the gifts of God work in them

Reverend Dr. Abraham Anakwa, Chairperson of the Western Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana on Friday entreated Christians to avail themselves for the gifts of God to operate in them.

He said all believers were endowed with one spiritual gift or the other, which according to him, must be used for the edification of the Church and the glory of God.

Rev. Dr. Anakwa made the call at the 54th Annual National Delegates’ conference of church’s Choir Union at Takoradi in the Western Region.

He added that the theme: “The Gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Church Today-Singing with a Mission” was chosen to re-awaken the consciousness of the present day singers in the church to always live up to the task.

Rev. Dr. Anakwa said many of the Presbyterian youths were leaving the church to join other charismatic churches because most people were not using their God given gifts and talents to edify the church.

“I therefore entreat you as a choir to allow your spiritual gifts to operate to the benefits of all,” he said.

Dr. Daniel Okae-Anti, National President of the Choir Union, urged the members to be committed to their duties and responsibilities.

“Let’s be careful about our stand in the Lord. Every good church member and for that matter a chorister must observe all the tenets of the Lords ministry which included tithing and communion,” the national president added.

He asked Christians to avoid negative habits such as pride, arrogance and selfishness, which did not help in the development of the ministry.
