Chinese national, Ghanaian arrested in Akwatia for possession of ammunition

Police in the Eastern Region have arrested two men for unlawful possession of ammunition during a late-night patrol operation in Akwatia.

The suspects, identified as Enoch Asiedu, 32, and Lu Youyan, 58, a Chinese national, were intercepted at about 9:00 pm on Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Boadua Livingstone Snap Checkpoint while driving a Toyota Hilux pickup truck.

“A search of the vehicle uncovered four live BB cartridges, which were seized as evidence. Both suspects were immediately detained and transported to the Akwatia Police Station for interrogation.

“During questioning, suspect Enoch Asiedu allegedly told investigators that the ammunition belonged to their employer, identified only as Mohammed, the registered owner of the Toyota Hilux,” a police statement said.

The police also said that efforts are underway to locate Mohammed for questioning regarding his role in the matter.
