Chinese gov’t donates security equipment worth GHC1.2m

The Chinese government has donated security equipment to the tune of 2m Chinese Yuan Renmimbi approximately Gh?1.2m to Ghana’s Parliament in a bid to boost security in the legislature.

The equipment which have already been installed comprises 3set of Xray baggage scanner, 3 set walkthrough metal detector, 100 hand metal detector and one human body detector.

Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H .E. Sun Baohong who presented the equipment at short ceremony in Parliament was confident that the equipment would play an important role in providing maximum security to the legislature.

She said the donation was initially announced last year during a visit of H.E. Yu Shensheng Chiarman of the national committee of Chinese political consultative conference (CPPCC).

Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho was grateful for the presentation and was hopeful it will be put to good use.

According to him the equipment came at an opportune time as the House was in the process of procuring similar equipment.

“This donation has saved Parliament millions of dollars and we grateful to the government and people China,” he said.
