'Chilling Accountant' will cough out 'stolen' GH¢115,882 - Auditor General

Mr. Daniel Yaw Domelevo has revealed that the beleaguered Accountant on secondment at the Western Regional Office of the Nurses and Midwifery Council (NMC) alleged to have embezzled some funds will cough to the last pesewa.

“We are going to use the necessary processes and ensure that the amount he spent is retrieved. It belongs to the state and we cannot allow him to go away”, he hinted on Accra-based Okay Fm.

Gilbert Kwasi Mensah Addison, after an audit was said to have blown about GH¢115,882 in living a luxurious lifestyle.

The suspect, who is currently on interdiction but assisting police in their investigations, is reported to have confessed using the stated amount which belongs to the institution according to a Graphic Online report to build a garage, a living room and a store room among other expenses for his personal comfort.

It was revealed that Mr Addission was on secondment to the health institution from the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department but within between May 2013 and December 2014 used the period to allegedly embezzle funds under dubious means

The police have taken over investigations into the matter according to the Registrar of the Nurses and Midwifery Council, Mr Felix Nyanteh who told Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament.

The Auditor General, however, reinforce the fact that he will not be spared for going contrary to the rules.
