Kumasi, Oct. 16, GNA - The National Integrated and Child Health Campaign for this year in the Kumasi metropolis took-off on Tuesday. The five-day exercise being organized by the Ghana Health Service with support from other organizations was under the theme: "Healthy Mothers and Children Make a Better Ghana". Dr. Joseph Oduro, Kumasi Metropolitan Director of Health Services disclosed these in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Thursday.
He said activities planned under the campaign included immunization against Poliomyelitis of children under five years; administering Vitamin A supplement to children from six months to five years and nursing mothers, as well as providing children with de-wormer expellers. Dr Oduro said 303,760 children had been targeted under the exercise for which nearly 4,000 health personnel and volunteers have been recruited.
He appealed to nursing mothers and school authorities to encourage children to turn out at the immunization centres for the programme.
