The Chiefs, public service workers and farmers in the Northern region have petitioned President Nana Akufo-Addo to grant Alafei Foods-a Company located in the region- the permission to operate under the one-district-one-factory policy.

The funding will Alafei foods to establish their industrial base in the Yendi municipality under the government’s flagship One District-One Factory project.

The petitioners believe this will enable Alafei Foods to partner with about 30,000 smallholder farmers in the area to grow substantial soya and vegetables to meet the protein and vitamin needs of schoolchildren.

The project will also improve the livelihood of the farmers and their families thereby bringing to an end, the juvenile delinquency in the area as well as ending the head portal “Kayaye” practice.

Mr. Claude Convisser said, “In the event, when this matter is referred to Cabinet, we petition the Regional Ministers of the five regions of the north, thus Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Northeast and the Savannah regions and the members of Parliament to prevail upon the government to award a no-bid contract to Alafia Foods recognising the potential its model offers for economic development across the rural north.”
