Chief Releases Land To Non Governmental Organisation

Nyakuadze (Central Region), 20 Oct. The chief of Nyakuadze, Nana Anukumah, has released 10 acres of land to Humanitas Acktiv Afrika, a Germany-based NGO, for the establishment of a farming institute. In addition, the people in the village have offered to provide communal labour to supplement the efforts of the organization to enable the project to take off next year.. Humanitas Acktiv Afrika is assisting the Ghana branch to establish the proposed farming institute whose principal objective is to train junior secondary school drop-outs in modern farming techniques to enable them to become useful to the nation. The president of the Ghana branch, Mr Samuel Kow Mensah, gave the assurance that everything possible will be done to ensure that the project becomes a reality. Mr Mensah announced that the external directors of the organisation will organise a special fund-raising harvest in Munich, Germany, on January 15, next year, to mobilise funds to support the project. Mr Stephen Gyimah-Bruku, chairman of the board of directors of the branch, said branches of the farming institute will be set up in all the 10 regions if the Nyakuadze experiment proves successful.
