Chief Of Awutu Traditional Area Advises His Subjects To Embrace Family Planning.

Awutu Bereku (C/R), Sept. 3 , The Omanhene of the Awutu Traditional Area, Abokuadi Whettey Agyemen-Larbi, the second, has advised his people to emb race family planning as their contribution towards building a healthy and progressive society. He said the practice will also save young girls from resorting to ill egal abortion which has claimed several lives in recent times. Giving the advice at the annual Awubia festival at Awutu Bereku in th e Central Region, Abokuadi Agyeman blamed herbalists in the area for encour aging teenage girls to take to illegal abortion which often led to their death. He advised parents and guardians in the area to exercise control ove r their children and wards to help curb the menace. The Omanhene appealed to government to institute appropriate measure s to protect teenage girls in the area.
