Chief Justice commends female judge ...

... recommends her promotion

Tamale, Sept. 13, GNA- The Chief Justice, Mr Justice George Acquah has recommended that Mrs Angelina Mensah Pumia, the Tamale District Court Judge be promoted to a Circuit Court Judge for her selfless dedication to duty.

Mrs Pumia who has served in the Northern Region for nearly three years, is currently the only female judge in the three Northern Regions. The Chief Justice said he is impressed about the performance of the judge.

He advised members of the Judiciary to carry out their duties efficiently saying: "If the Judiciary does not perform well then the police cannot carry out their duties effectively".

He said the Judiciary has a big role to play in sustaining democracy and promoting the development of the country because "no investor will be prepared to invest in a country where the rule of law and order does not exist".

Mr Benjahmin Shaibu, Northern Regional President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) said in spite of its numerous responsibilities, the GBA is finding ways of bringing peace to Dagbon.
