The National Chief Imam, Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has extended warm Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to Muslims across Ghana, urging them to reflect deeply on the spiritual lessons of Ramadan and carry them into their daily lives.

In a message issued on March 19, 2026, the revered Islamic leader emphasized that Eid celebrations should go beyond festivity, calling on the Muslim community to observe the occasion with restraint and responsibility.

He advised that all forms of celebration must remain “within the bounds of decency, modesty, and legality.”

According to the Chief Imam, the successful completion of Ramadan should be measured not merely by the act of fasting, but by the transformation it inspires in individuals.

He explained that the ultimate purpose of fasting, as prescribed in the Quran, is to cultivate piety—an outcome that must be evident in personal conduct and social behavior.

“The quantity of spiritual cleansing acquired in the Holy Month of Ramadan is meaningless unless it has the capacity to guarantee the quality of attitudinal transformation in the interest of society,” he stated.

Sheikh Sharubutu further encouraged Muslims to embody values that promote social harmony, stressing that their actions should align with societal norms and the laws of the state.

Beyond the Muslim community, the Chief Imam extended his message to all Ghanaians, calling for a renewed commitment to patriotism, compassion, and collective responsibility. He underscored the importance of these principles in strengthening national unity within a diverse and secular society.

As part of his Eid message, he also offered prayers for pressing global and regional concerns, including the pursuit of justice worldwide, peace in the Middle East, stability across Africa, and continued prosperity for Ghana.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection, and is celebrated by Muslims around the world as a time of gratitude, generosity and community.
