Chief Executive of Minerals Commission relieved of post

Accra (Greater Accra) 18 Oct.1999 - President Jerry John Rawlings on Friday relieved Mr. Kofi Ansah of his appointment as Chief Executive of the Minerals Commission with immediate effect.

A statement signed by J. L. M. Amissah, Secretary to the President, said pending the appointment of a substantive replacement, Mr. Johnny Francois, Chairman of the Minerals Commission Board, should exercise oversight responsibility.

No reasons were given for the removal of Mr.Ansah, who has held the position since the inception of the commission.
