Change is natural and cannot be stopped, outgoing majority leader Alban Bagbin has said in his closing remarks to the sixth parliament of Ghana on Friday, 6 January.

Mr Bagbin, who is billed to become the Second Deputy Speaker of the house in the seventh parliament praised outgoing President John Mahama and incoming President Nana Akufo-Addo for “exhibiting a very high sense of democratic maturity and statesmanship,” adding: “Nobody can stand against change, change is natural and it will come when it will come.”

“It is, therefore, imperative that as leaders, we develop the capacity to accept change when it comes. We should respect the will of the people anytime it is expressed,” he said.

Also delivering his closing remarks, minority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is billed to become the majority leader in the next parliament expressed qualms about the manner in which some bills were passed on the floor without due diligence.

Still in parliament, outgoing Speaker Edward Doe Adjaho said he believed he had done his best as leader of the house.
