Mr Augustine Saakuur Karbo, General Secretary of the Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) has suggested to Scientists to invent things that have Ghanaian or African backgrounds.

He said Ghanaian invented product should have their own standards and not to be determined by foreign standards and requirements.

Mr Karbo who was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Thursday in Accra on “Ghana and the future.”

He added “the destiny of Ghana is in the hands of all Ghanaians and we must free ourselves from mental slavery thinking that it is the Europeans alone who can do things for us for that reason there is the need to summon courage to say that given the opportunity Ghanaians can do it for themselves.”

In this regard, he urged government to launch a massive educational programme to sensitise people towards the invention concept and should give financial and material support to scientists towards this venture.
