Certificates of nominees to be checked

Ministers Designate And Positive Change Chapter Two In Trouble
There is the danger that Ministers designate who currently are being vetted would not be given the nod as soon as possible, to enable the President to kick-start Positive Change chapter two.

This is because the Minority Leader and the Ranking Member of the Appointment Committee, Hon. Alban Sumani Kingsford Bagbin has requested the certificates of all the nominees, that has appeared before them for cross checking. He said the exercise would aid the committee to assert the trueness, validity and sincerity of such certificates and the nominees.

Hon. Bagbin made this request at Parliament House when the Minister designate for the Greater Accra Region, Sheikh I.C. Quaye appeared before the committee to be vetted on January 26, 2005.

Initially he had goofed in his Curricular Vitae (CV) stating that, he was a banker. Unfortunately, he admitted he never schooled as a banker and that invalidated the Banker?s position in his CV. Asked whether he has certificates to back other areas he had stated in his CV, he answered in the affirmative but explained fire had burnt them.

As a result, the Minority Leader who is the Ranking Member of the Committee requested for certificates of all nominees that had appeared before them for cross check with the institutions they claim they attended.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Freddy Blay told the ranking member they would meet over it in caucus and if it is approved, it would mean that the approval of all Ministers vetted would be put on hold until the certification is over and Positive Change chapter two to take off, as to when such a thing would be through would be your guess.
