Catholic parish inaugurates senior secondary school

Bekwai (Ash), Oct 27, GNA-The Saint John's Catholic Church on Sunday inaugurated its senior secondary school and raised funds in support of the school at Bekwai in the Amansie East District. Speaking at the ceremony Mr J.K. Twumasi, President of the Church Council, paid tribute to the founding fathers of the school for their foresight.

He said the founding fathers had laid a solid foundation for the education of children in the area and appealed to the community to contribute towards the sustenance of the school. Nana Yaw Barima Acheampong, a citizen of Bekwai resident in the US who chaired the function, said the parish had a long term plan to turn the school into a polytechnic to produce middle level manpower personnel.

The Rev Monsignor J. Adusei-Poku, acting Headmaster of the school, thanked those who contributed to the running of the school and assured them that the school would maintain high academic standards and discipline.

The first batch of 26 students, made up of 15 girls and 11 boys, were admitted into the school. An amount of 57 million cedis was realised at the fund raising.
