The Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo Constituency, Adam Mutawakilu has paid a glowing tribute to the Catholic Church for being pivotal in the transformation of his life through which he is currently a lawmaker.

As a guest during 25th Priestly Jubilee of the Bishop of Damongo Diocese, Most Reverend. Peter Paul Yekezuame Anghyiere at the St.Anne’s Cathedral, the former District Chief Executive revealed that he benefited in two folds from Catholicism.

Revealing how this came about, he said:”Immediately I finished my O’ Level, I was engaged at the West Gonja District Hospital which is a Catholic Hospital. So the first salary I had in life is from the West Gonja Hospital…and therefore, I take the Catholic Church and the mission like my breast milk because, I got my first salary from there. The second thing I benefited from here is my wife. She is a Catholic and she is still a Catholic and I am a Muslim”.

The open admission and commendation of the lawmaker attracted spontaneous applause from congregants at the ceremony.

Adam Mutawakilu disclosed that Most Rev. Peter Paul played an important role in order for the then government to construct the Damongo-Fulfulso road which was in a very deplorable state; adding that he has received and continues to receive spiritual blessing from the church and the Bishop in person.

“I worked closely with the Church in my days as a DCE and an MP to chalk a lot of successes in the district. I promise to continue to support the church in its endeavors”, he assured.
