Catholic Church organises mass wedding

Tepa (Ash), Feb 26, GNA - The Tepa Catholic Church in the Goaso diocese on Sunday held a mass wedding for 40 couples at the Manfo Grotto in the Ahafo-Ano North district.

The ceremony, which was jointly officiated by the Reverend Father Dr Michael Barimah Appau and Rev. Father Dominic Apataah, was witnessed by about 4,000 church members, families and loved ones of the couples. Preaching the sermon, Rev. Father Appau reminded the couples that marriage was established by God and urged them to respect and sustain the institution.

He also advised the couples to love each other and exercise patience and tolerance in their relationships.

Rev. Appau condemned domestic violence, especially against women and children in marriage and asked husbands to treat their wives with respect, understanding and tenderness.

He also appealed to the couples to support each other and to invest in their children's education and on other profitable ventures. Rev. Appau announced that the Church would organise mass wedding annually to enable the members avoid the high cost of individual marriages and to understand the sacrament of marriage. 27 Feb. 04
