A new chapel built for the Ash-Town Holy Family Catholic Church has been dedicated at a ceremony, with a call on Christians to uphold the values of selflessness and sacrifice.
The Most Reverend Gabriel Justice Yaw Anokye, Metropolitan Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, said these were vital for the growth of both the church and the society.
The building was single-handedly financed by a member of the congregation, Mr. Enoch Adu Arthur.
He said he was overjoyed by the increasing rate at which individuals were stepping to the plate and providing funding for the church’s development, especially coming at a time overseas funds to the church had ceased flowing.
The construction of church buildings, manses, classrooms and health facilities were all now being done through local support, he noted.
Archbishop Anokye praised Mr. Arthur for his singular effort, and said it was his prayer that God would immensely bless him and his family.
His expectation was that people who entered the building to worship would bear true witness to their faith and the love of God.
He asked them not to engage in gossip, rumours and falsehood, adding that, they should work to protect the unity of the church.
