Catherine Afeku to register persons under NHIS on Mother's Day

The Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira Constituency of the Western Region, Mrs. Catherine Abelema Afeku has pledged her commitment to seeing an improvement in the health of her constituents.

In view of this, the MP has promised to register Two Thousand (2000) constituents and its environs onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 13, 2018.

The gesture forms part of her promise towards quality healthcare delivery in the round-up to December 2016 general elections.

According to Mrs. Afeku the healthcare of her people is very paramount to her and will make sure their health will be taken into consideration.

She added that the exercise will also cover disabled persons and the vulnerable within her area.

She also disclosed that several measures have been outlined to help ease the suffering of the vulnerable in her area from their challenges as they lack proper health care.

She was confident that her people will begin to receive good health services once they make use of their NHIS cards when registered.

She revealed that the registration exercise will give opportunity to new entrants to register and those with old cards to re-new their cards free of charge.

Asking where the funds will come from, the MP disclosed that she is using part of her MP's Health Insurance Funds to finance this exercise.

She added that the exercise is non-partisan and therefore urging everybody in her Constituency to take advantage of it and register.

"Sickness doesn't know whether you are an NDC member or NPP member, sickness is sickness so I urge everybody to come and register", she emphasized.

"The places for the registration exercise have been grouped into zones and this will help majority of people in constituency to register", she added.

"The concern of my people is their inability to access quality healthcare as they are not sign onto the scheme", she emphasized.

She revealed that plans are far advance to acquire new X-ray and ambulance for the Axim Government Hospital.

She used the platform to wish all responsible mothers in Ghana especially those in her Constituency a happy Mother's Day in advance and pray for them to live long.

She said responsible mothers need to be recognized anytime the need arises.

"Mothers are special people and without them we can't do anything on this earth and I use this moment to wish Her Excellency First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo a happy Mother's Day in advance", she excited.

She, therefore appealed to her constituents to support President Akufo-Addo led administration to deliver well. "I'm going to build 10 toilet facilities at Axim to ease the open defecation at the beach".
