An 18-year old carpenter apprentice who had anal sex with a seven-year old boy at Ashongman has been remanded into Police custody by an Accra Circuit Court.
Kwame Aboagye Dacosta, charged with defilement pleaded guilty.
The court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku has ordered accused to produce his birth certificate in court and deferred his sentence to July 10.
The court noted that should he fail to produce his certificate an age assessment would be conducted on him at a medical facility.
When the court enquired of his age, Dacosta told the judge that his birth certificate is with his mother’s elder sister at Agogo in the Ashanti region.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the complainant is a seamstress residing at Ashongman with his son, who is the victim in the case.
Dacosta, the complainant and his son know themselves.
On June 20, this year, at about 0630 hours, the victim unceremoniously left the house to visit his uncle who also resides within the vicinity.
Prosecution said while the victim was with his uncle Dacosta went there with a laptop claiming that he was looking for a buyer.
The victim’s uncle declined to buy the said laptop so Dacosta left.
On his way Dacosta met the victim heading towards his mother’s house and then informed the victim to accompany him to his house located at the outskirts of Ashongman to go and collect something for his uncle.
The victim then followed Dacosta to his house and on reaching there he lured the victim into his room and had anal sex with him amidst tears from the victim.
After the act the victim went to inform his mother about Dacosta’s conduct and led the complainant and his siblings to the house of Dacosta where they apprehended him and escorted him to the Atomic Police station where a complaint was made.
Later the matter was transferred to the Madina Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit, where a medical report form was issued to the complainant to seek medical care for the victim.
Prosecution said Dacosta in his caution statement admitted the offence.
