Carlos Ahenkorah fulfills campaign promise

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema West, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has presented a cheque for GHc 40,000 to the Tema Polyclinic in fulfillment of his promise during the 2016 elections.

The donation is to enable the health facility cater adequately for the large number of patients who seek medical attention.

Prior to the election, the MP, who doubles as Deputy Minister of Trade, presented examination bed, examination lamp, disposable gloves, disposable speculum, pillows, trash bins, hospital beds, breathing circuits, delivery bed, trolleys, diathermy, catheters, CTG Machines and accessories, syringes and stabilisers and scan machine to the hospital.

The items, estimated at about $50, 000, helped to improve health care delivery at the facility.

He also promised to help upgrade and equip the polyclinic with state-of-the-art medical equipment when given the nod.

Last Monday, the MP presented the money for the construction of a modern incinerator, as well as the refurbishment of the maternity theatre of the Polyclinic to ensure the safety of expectant mothers, who undergo surgery.

Presenting the cheque, the MP also promised to improve other facilities at the weighing centre and Compound Health Improvement Services (CHIPS) in the constituency.

He seized the opportunity to commend staff of the health facility for saving the lives of residents of Tema and its surrounding communities.

The facility, which was built in 1952 with the name Urban Health and upgraded into polyclinic in 1962, is yet to any major rehabilitation.

Receiving the items, Dr John B.K.Yabani, Tema Metro Director of Health Services, expressed gratitude to the MP for the donation.
