Canadian HC Advises Ghana ....

... ON OVER DEPENDANCE ON FOREIGN ASSISTANCE

The Canadian High commissioner, Donald Bobiash says if Ghana is ever going to stop dependence on foreign assistance, it has to develop strong national institutions. He was briefing the media in Tamale after a two-day working visit to the Upper East region to assess a 15 million Canadian dollar Child Health Programme being supported by Canada.

Answering questions from the media, Mr Bobiash said Canada has been supporting development especially in Northern Ghana in the last 40 years. He said in the last couple of years Canada has been specifically focusing on the capacity of government of Ghana in order to help the nation diminish its over reliance on foreign assistance. The Canadian High Commissioner, Donald Bobish commended Ghana for a remarkable achievement in reducing infant mortal! ity rate especially in the Upper East region.
