Calls For Madam Betty Mould’s Arrest Are Irresponsible, Hypocritical And Baseless

KWABRE DEMOCRAT FRONT (KDF)

23/03/2015

PRESS RELEASE
CALLS FOR MADAM BETTY MOULD’S ARREST ARE IRRESPONSIBLE,
HYPOCRITICAL AND BASELESS

We are shocked to the marrow by the irresponsible, hypocritical and baseless calls for the
arrest and prosecution of Madam Betty Mould and we are unequivocal in our resolve to
ensure that no harm comes to this noble daughter of Kwabre and the country at large
because we believe Madam Betty Mould ought to be celebrated for her exploits and
achievements for both the country and the NDC.
The recent acquittal and discharge of Wayome by the court has added a new twist to the
Wayome saga to the extent that persons we believe ought to know better are calling for
the arrest and prosecution of Madam Betty Mould. The judge at the trial stated that
Madam Betty at all times acted in good faith and in consultation with the relevant
stakeholders. Where then lies the claims of connivance when indeed all these point to her
hands being clean?
The height of hypocrisy is currently being displayed by Kennedy Agyapong who insulted
the NPP that they did not stand by Osafo Marfo’s tribal bigotry yet hypocritically turns
round and calls on the NDC to prosecute one of its own for no tangible reason. Clearly,
this double standards should not be tolerated by a party wanting to retain power in 2016.
Even in opposition, the NPP is protecting their own when indeed they are in the wrong
yet clandestinely want the NDC to prosecute their own eventhough there is no evidence
of wrongdoing.
We can say on authority that no one, and we repeat not a single soul can come out and
tell the world that Madam Betty Mould has taken a penny as bribe from the fellow. It
stands to reason that indeed Wayome or any of his representatives has not been able to
give the slightest of indications that Madam Betty Mould had benefitted from the
judgement debt awarded to him. That is a sign of a woman of unblemished character and
so we strongly resist any attempts to try to tarnish her hard won reputation.
Madam Betty Mould recently became a vice chairman of the NDC and this has sent
shivers down the spine of the opposition. The opposition bent on diverting attention from
their already wobbling chances of coming back to power will go to any length to shift
attention from their seeming unreadiness to ever govern this country. This attempt will
fail because whoever thinks he/she can play the drum for Madam Betty’s downfall should
bear in mind that it shall not sound and that some of us will not allow anyone to even
hold onto the stick to hit the drum with.
We are unrelenting in our support for Madam Betty Mould because this illustrious
woman has been and continues to be the backbone of NDC in the Ashanti region. She has
single handedly endured and continues to endure the burden of the various activities of
this region and many others. Her contributions both as Attorney General and later as
Minister of Education was a contributory factor in the NDC attaining over 600,000 votes
in the Ashanti region.
We are also aware of her contributions to the development of the two (2) Kwabre
Districts and Constituencies, the three Atwima districts, women and youth wings of the
party and also the Ashanti regional secretariat. Madam Betty has effectively changed the
Ashanti region from an NDC waterloo to an NDC stronghold.
Surprisingly, people are expressing legal opinions even though the presiding judge
Justice Ajet Nassam stated categorically in his ruling that “It is my considered opinion
that, such criticism of the then Minister [Betty Mould Iddrissu] by the prosecutor is
misplaced… The head of Legal at the Finance Ministry [Paul Asimenu] wrote his view
justifying the payment. There were other persons who met to deliberate on the petition.
The decision, to me was not wholly taken by the then Minister, Honourable Betty Mould
Iddrisu.” In fact, the trial judge went further to state “I will further show why I am of the
view that, the decision taken was not only that of Mrs. Betty Mould-lddrisu. In her quest
for expert opinion on the Financial Engineering claim by the accused, Honourable Betty
Mould-lddrisu wrote to those involved, including the Building Industry Consultants (B. I.
C.), the Government Consultants on CAN 2008. One Magnus Rex Danquah replied the
letter.”
This is the position of the law and this position clearly exonerates Madam Betty Mould
from the allegations of connivance being trumpeted by the very people who brought
about this situation. Indeed, the actions and inactions of the NPP during the period
leading up to the CAN 2008 leaves much to be desired. Attempts to push their wrongs
under the carpet will not wash by trying to divert attention with their recent crusade. If
we are to interrogate the issues then certainly we will appreciate it better with a little of
history and so the NPP should be guided by the history of this whole brouhaha. There is
an Attorney General who sold our drill ship to settle a judgement debt under the nose of a
president who said he will not prosecute his officials since he risks running down his
government. If you live in a glass house, you do not throw stones!
We will not want to give credence to assertions made by the “all knowing” Franklin
Cudjoe. We will just advice him to concentrate on putting out a genuine Curriculum
Vitae and save himself some credibility rather than wasting everybody’s time doing the
bidding of his paymasters. If he is ashamed then indeed he ought to be ashamed for
seeking to dent the credibility of persons whose heights he can only dream of.
We will on this note like to commend Madam Betty Mould for keeping her calm in the
mist of all these misinformations and distortions and not allowing her emotions to take
the better of her. Our detractors have tried to break her resolve but Madam Betty has
stayed strong as she allows the law to take its course and finally as Justice Ajet Nassam
put it “It is my opinion that this letter dated the 5th day of August, 2005 formed the basis
of a binding agreement between Vamed and Government of Ghana and the processes
having been terminated wrongfully by the Government, the claimants were entitled to
compensations for serviced rendered,"
We will like to call on government and the Attorney General to not kowtow to the whims
of people who do not have the country at heart but rather looking for a campaign message
ahead of the 2016 general elections. The NDC gave birth to the government and we will
want to see the government act as such.
We are very proud of Madam Betty Mould and will fiercely resist any attempts to bring
her name into disrepute. The NPP being afraid of their electoral fortunes due to the work
Madam Betty is doing will go to any length to try to pull her down. The NPP should
brace themselves up for a showdown because we are ready to sacrifice our very existence
for Madam Betty Mould. Madam Betty is Ashanti NDC and Ashanti NDC is Madam
Betty.
Long Live Madam Betty Mould Iddrisu
Long Live Ghana
Long Live KDF
