The Convention People's Party (CPP) on Tuesday extended a message of goodwill and hope to Ghanaians and all celebrants of Christmas, the day that marks the birth of Jesus Christ 2000 years ago.

“May the essence of the season signifying the birth of Christ inspire in each person the hope of his redemption,” the CPP said in a statement signed by the Acting General Secretary, Mr James Kwabena Bomfeh Junior, and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

“May we all learn from the humble and meekness of the life of Jesus Christ and express same towards one another in the bid to lead fulfilling lives. May God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong,” it said.

The statement said the birth of Christ represents hope, peace and goodwill for all mankind and His teachings of love and sacrifice are qualities that we as Ghanaians must aspire to and reflect on.

“These are qualities that we want to cultivate in all our relationships and associations with one another as we constantly remind ourselves that we are one nation, one people and with one destiny,” it said.

“As we celebrate this Christmas let us resolve to promote the virtues that Christ represents and allow these to guide us to serve our fellow countrymen and women with humility and honesty.’’

“We are aware of the great task ahead of us to transform our society as we strive to alleviate suffering and disadvantage. Ghana, Africa and the world still face a great challenge with unacceptable high levels of diseases, poverty and illiteracy, among other social ills.’’

“As a nation, we have continued to consolidate our democracy, overcoming excessive intolerance and rigidity. Our prayer as a political party is that we, as a people, will cultivate the spirit of moral courage in the conduct of our affairs and prioritise the issues that affect the majority of our citizens.”

“It is our wish that the examples of love, compassion and selflessness that are synonymous with Christ guide us as we seek to renew ourselves and transform our communities.”
