The Chief Justice, Georgina Theodora Wood, has set up a taskforce to strengthen the capacities of judges on electoral laws ahead of the general elections in November.

The taskforce has the director of the judiciary training institute and Justice of the Court of Appeal Professor Justice Dennis Adjei as one of the facilitators.

Supreme Court Judges; Justice Ben Dotse and Justice Baffoe Boney will also be part of this taskforce.

Speaking to Starr News at the sidelines of a forum by the Institute of Economic Affairs, (IEA), in Accra Justice Adjei said the initiative will ensure that judges are well-informed on Ghana’s electoral laws to ensure free and fair polls.

“This taskforce was set up because we get new judges, others retire, others are promoted and they must know the laws that are applicable to every particular court,” Justice Adjei said.

He added that the training for the judges can be completed within two months if all the resources are available.
