CHRAJ Protest Osafo Marfo?s List

The Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has protested against the failure of the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning to acknowledge it as one of the key institutions that contributed to the achievement of good governance in the country.

CHRAJ was omitted from a list of 13 institutions that Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Yaw Osafo Marfo named as organs promoting good governance.

The Minister?s list included his own ministry, Local Government and Rural Development, the Electoral Commission, Ghana Audit Service, Office of the Head of the Civil Service and the National Commission on Civic Education.

A statement by Commissioner of CHRAJ, said ''CHRAJ also promotes integrity and accountability in Ghanaian public life by contributing to the fight against corruption.''

Short said the Minister?s and by implication, government?s omission of his outfit as one of the institutions that promotes democracy was highly unfortunate.

The commission said regardless of the omission, CHRAJ would continue to do its work ''without fear or favour''. It said it hopes government would correct the error and continue to count CHRAJ among the key institutions working towards the achievement of good governance in the country.
