CGRG to go ahead with Monday's demo despite court order

Pressure Group, the Concerned Ghanaians for Responsible Governance (CGRG) says it would go ahead with its Monday protest despite a court order asking them to change the time and route.

The group which organized the Occupy Flagstaff House demonstration in July, is hitting the streets again to protest “government’s bad handling” of its earlier grievances.

The demonstrators clashed with the police during the July 1 protest as they were prevented from marching to the Presidency to deliver a petition.

The police have secured a court order asking them to demonstrate from the Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah Circle to the Hearts Park between 5 am and 2 pm.

However, speaking to Starr News, Spokesperson for the group Rodney Longdon said they have reached an agreement with the Police concerning the demonstration.

“Monday’s demonstration is going ahead because the Police made us aware that there was no way they could stop us; their concern was with the route."

“We could understand where they were coming from and we are saying that in building a good consensus with all the parties involved we felt that let’s come to a good compromise because the important thing is that we occupy the minds of the government” Longdon said.
