CEPS vehicle runs over police officer at Aflao

A Customs, Excise and Preventive Service(CEPS) taskforce vehicle with registration number GW 8114-16, Monday ran over a police officer killing him instantly at the Aflao border.

Sergeant Simon Nana Komla, who was with the Accident Squad of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) was riding towards the Aflao border when he allegedly hit a Hyudai Grace commercial vehicle, which drove into his way and crashed to death after landing in the path of the CEPS vehicle, said to be chasing a smuggler.

Superintendent Obrako Bempah, Aflao Police Commander, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency and said the mortal remains of the officer had been sent to Accra for autopsy.

He said the two drivers were in police custody aiding investigations.
