CDS pays compliments to 66 Artillery Regiment

Ho, May 20, GNA - Lieutenant General Peter Augustine Blay, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), on Thursday commended the 66 Artillery Regiment (Vol= ta Barracks) for its high standard of discipline over the years. He noted that the Military Administration had for a long time not received any report of indiscipline from the Regiment and urged it to kee= p up the "high standards."

Lt. Gen. Blay said this when he paid a working visit to the Regiment= to have a first hand information about it.

He described the Regiment as a "well organized unit" and commended i= t for embarking on self help projects including residential accommodation, nursery school and a mango farm.

He said reports of good cooperation between the Regiment and other sister security services were commendable and that must reflect in their relationship with civilians.

Lt. Gen Blay said the Military Command was taking steps to address t= he numerous challenges facing the Regiment and urged the soldiers to adopt a=

can-do-spirit and never give up. The CDS paid courtesy calls on the Volta Regional Minister, Mr Josep= h Amenowode and Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli. They both spoke about the neglect of a military facility at Akoefe n= ear Ho that was to have been developed into a Peace Keeping Training Centre.
