CCFC supports community with a six-unit classroom block

The Christian Children’s Fund of Canada (CCFC), a child-centered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has commissioned a six-unit classroom block in Kpinchilla, a community in the East Gonja Municipality.

The six-unit classroom block has a well-furnished library and offices to provide additional classroom infrastructure to accommodate the growing pupil population.

The classrooms constructed at a cost of GHC 240,000 are to provide separate classrooms, toilet and other facilities to be used by primary school pupils and that of the Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre.

The project forms part of CCFC six year strategy plans to improve the quality of life of children with support from its development partner the Presbyterian Farmers Training Child Development Program (PFTCDP) and funded by ChildFund Korea.

Mr George Baiden, Country Director of CCFC, said it is important for e parents to strive and invest in the educational development of their children saying “one day parents would live to see the results of their sacrifices”.

He urged parents to cooperate with teachers to effectively address the educational challenges likely to hinder the development of children in the community.

Dr Edward Adam Harunah, District Pastor, Tamale Presbyterian Church of Ghana, appealed to teachers to attend classes regularly and make the needed contact hours with students and not necessarily attend classes for attendance sake.

He said parents should desist from engaging children in farming activities during school hours and stressed the need for parents to be responsible in discharging their parental duties.

Mr Abu Baba, the East Gonja Municipal Director of Education, said the provision of the new classrooms would boost education in the area and would stop children from travelling long distance to access education.

He appealed to the municipal assembly and traditional authorities to assist in the provision of accommodation infrastructure to teachers posted to the various communities.

Mr Baba said if the accommodation challenges in these communities are addressed teachers would effectively deliver on their mandate to offer the best of teaching services.
