The Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to Ghana, Togo and Benin, Assiélou Félix Tanon, has congratulated Ghana on the occasion of its 69th Independence Anniversary, describing the country as a model of democracy in the sub-region and beyond.

In a message marking Ghana’s independence celebration on March 6, the ambassador commended the country for its journey since gaining sovereignty in 1957, noting that it has grown into a stable and prosperous nation admired across the world.

According to him, Ghana’s development over the decades stands as a testament to the resilience and determination of its people as well as the strength of its democratic institutions.

The envoy conveyed the congratulatory message on behalf of the President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara, extending warm wishes to the government and people of Ghana as they commemorate the historic milestone.

“On this auspicious occasion, I am pleased to extend, on behalf of His Excellency Mr Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, and in my own name, our warmest congratulations to the Government and the people of Ghana,” the statement said.

Ambassador Tanon also used the occasion to highlight the strong diplomatic and bilateral relations between Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, expressing satisfaction with the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

He emphasised that the cordial ties between the two nations continue to strengthen cooperation and promote unity within the West African sub-region.

The ambassador concluded his message by wishing Ghana a happy Independence Day and reaffirming his support for continued collaboration between the two countries.

“Long live Ghana. Long live Côte d’Ivoire. Long live Ivorian–Ghanaian cooperation,” he stated.

Today, 6 March 2026, Ghana celebrates the sixty-ninth (69th) anniversary of its accession to national sovereignty. It has indeed been a remarkable journey toward becoming a prosperous and stable nation, widely recognized within the sub-region and across the world as a model of democracy.

On this auspicious occasion, I am pleased to extend, on behalf of His Excellency Mr. Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, and in my own name, our warmest congratulations to the Government and the people of Ghana.

I also take this opportunity to express my satisfaction with the excellent relations of friendship and fraternity that exist between Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.
