Businessman to contest Central Regional NPP post

Gomoa Mozano (C/R), Mr Mustapha Mohammed, a Cape Coast- based businessman has announced his intention to contest the position of Central Regional Organiser at the impending delegates conference of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in December.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Gomoa West Constituency Delegates' conference at Mozano on Tuesday, Mr Mohammed popularly known as 'Say Mallah' described himself as a staunch NPP supporter who was nurtured by Professor Adu Boahen, the 1992 presidential candidate of the party and Mr Kwesi Brew, a former National Treasurer.

He said he had therefore acquired the skills in party organisation. Mr Mohammed said he served as Vice Chairman of the Cape Coast Constituency branch of the party and a special aide to Mr Isaac Edumadze and Nana Ato Arthur during their reign as regional ministers. He said he was also appointed Pre-mix Fuel Co-ordinator for Central Region during Kufuor's administration.

Mr Mohammed appealed to members who would form the electoral college not to be swayed by money but competency.

He said snatching power from the National Democratic Congress in the 2012 general election would not be easy.

"To succeed we need to elect competent and devoted people to every position from the polling station to the national office. "This is not the time to gamble with the destiny of the party by electing anybody at all to office," adding that the experiences he had gathered as NPP activist made him stand tall among all aspiring candidates for the post.
