A Bogoso-based businessman and a philanthropist, Nana Amponsah, has presented a Toyota Hilux pick-up and two mini buses valued at GH¢355, 000.00 to three institutions in the Western Region.
They are Prestea Government Hospital, which received the pick-up and the Prestea Secondary Technical School, and Fiaseman Senior High School, which received a bus each.
The donation was made following a request by the three institutions to the Okobeng Mining Company for assistance to enable them to acquire vehicles for their daily activities.
Making the presentation, Nana Amponsah, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Okobeng Mining Company, said it formed part of his Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Nana Amponsah expressed the hope that the beneficiary institutions would make maximum use of the vehicles for the benefit of their institutions.
The CEO said he was constructing a new maternity block for the Bogoso Health Centre to ensure that pregnant women attained quality health care.
It would be fully furnished with beds and equipment at an estimated cost of GH¢400, 000.00.
The District Chief Executive of Prestea Huni/Valley, Mr. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, who received the keys to the vehicles on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the donor for the gesture.
He assured him that the vehicles would be properly taken care of to prolong their long life span.
