Businessman Assaulted By Unknown Assailants

A 33-year-old businessman was last week lured by unknown assailants who feigned interest in an electronic gadget he was selling at Achimota and took him to Amasaman, near Accra, where they robbed and assaulted him.

Mr Harrison Oppong Tweneboah who is bedridden with a big sore on the leg and bruises on his body told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) yesterday that a gentleman approached him last Tuesday at the Cargo Truck Lorry Park at Achimota and showed interest in buying a second hand sound system he was selling at 350,000 cedis.

He said the man who is about 30 years, dark in complexion with a tribal mark on the right cheek and wearing a "punk" hair-style approached him around 5pm and convinced him to follow him with the item to Amasaman for payment.

According to Mr Tweneboah they got to Amasaman in the night where the assailant was joined by two accomplices who invited him to a spot for a drink, but he declined.

"After waiting for 20 minutes, they invited me into a waiting ash Opel Vectra Saloon vehicle. I suspect they drugged me when I sat in the car because I woke up seeing the car in front of a big mansion, walled with a gate being guarded by two men."

"They were dragging me into the house but I resisted fiercely, shouting to attract attention. People came out of their houses looking on helplessly whilst I was being beaten by the three men."

Mr Tweneboah said he managed to free himself and ran for his dear life leaving the sound system, which was in their possession.

"I don't know the motive behind the attack but thank God I am alive," he said, heaving a sigh of relief.
