Buses For 30 Ashanti Schools

A TOTAL OF 30 vehicles including 24 buses and six Mahindra Pickups have been distributed to 30 Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Ashanti region at a short but colourful ceremony.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Kwaku Agyeman Mensah made the presentation on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi on Wednesday.

In his remarks, the minister said government believed that the country could be developed properly when the populace were educated, skilled, well informed and morally sound.

He said the presentation of the vehicles to the beneficiary institutions was a clear manifestation that indeed government was totally committed to playing vital roles to arrest challenges facing schools in the country.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration since assuming political power in 2009, Dr. Agyeman Mensah noted had undertaken significant projects and programmes which had helped to promote quality education in the country.

He assured the people of government’s commitment in implementing effective programmes and policies to help put education system in the country on the pedestal, calling for total support from all stakeholders.

Dr. Agyeman Mensah was hopeful the presentation of the vehicles, especially the 28-seater buses, would help the beneficiary schools when travelling for educational purposes.

The minister urged the management of the 30 schools that received the vehicles to ensure proper maintenance of the vehicles in order for them to last long and also urged them to work hard in their various schools.

Dr. Kwaku Agyeman insisted that government would never renege on its promise of ensuring that the Better Ghana Agenda was experienced by all segments of the population.

He therefore implored the general public, notably those that have the development of the country at heart to fully support the current administration to lead the country to prosperity.
