Kumasi, April 28, GNA- Some suspected armed-robbers on Tuesday robbed and assaulted a Burkinabe man who came to Kumasi to transact business. Alhassan Ouatara, 30, was robbed of an amount of 3,800 Ghana Cedis at knife point by about ten suspected robbers soon after he had picked a Taxi cab at Dunkirk in Kumasi at about 5:00am to transport him to the Burkina
station at Race-Course. The Burkinabe, with grief told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he came to Ghana to collect the money on behalf of his father from the latter's business partner and that after being given the money, he decided to board a taxi to the Burkina station to enable him get back to his destination.
"On reaching Dunkirk the taxi driver surprisingly stopped the vehicle and just then some gangsters appeared from nowhere, took my money and also beat me mercilessly before tying my legs, mouth and hands and dragged me out of the taxi and bolted with the driver", he said. When contacted the Kumasi Police confirmed the incident and said the case was under investigation.
