Burkina Faso celebrates Golden Jubilee anniversary

Koupela (Burkina Faso), Dec. 13, GNA - Burkina Faso at the weekend celebrated her Golden Jubilee anniversary, with a call on the neighbouring country to pay special attention to the needs of the people to facilitate the hope of a better future.

Mrs Lucy Awuni, Deputy Upper East Regional Minister made the call when she led a delegation of the Regional Co-ordinating Council to participate in the celebration at Koupela, Central East Region of Burkina Faso. It was on the theme: 50 years of Nation Building: Memories and Hopes." She said it was important for Burkina Faso to invest in the people through the development of her human resource through education and training, road infrastructure, modernisation of agriculture and promotion of good governance.

Mrs Awuni said Ghana shared in the good memories and hopes for the continuous progress and development of Burkina Faso. She said Ghana's presence at the anniversary was an indication of the existing warm bilateral relations, saying Ghana had not regretted in promoting good neighbourliness because the results were clear. "It is my hope that this relations would continue to grow from strength to strength," she added.

She said Ghana was placing emphasis on good governance and the development of her human resource through the "Better Ghana Agenda". Monsieur Simeon Sawadogo, Regional Governor of Koupela, expressed gratitude to the local religious authorities, who had contributed to the development of the country in diverse ways.

He thanked Ghana and Togo for participating in the anniversary, saying it would deepen cross border relations. 13 Dec. 10
