The Chairperson of the Lawyers Hub–Kenya, Ms. Patricia Adusei-Poku, has acknowledged the unique challenges women face in building a career path for themselves.

According to her, certain life events that occur along a woman's career journey can sometimes set her back, but she was quick to add that these should not stop women from pursuing their dreams.

Speaking at the She Builds Conference on September 10, 2025, which aimed to empower women, she described the event as a meaningful initiative to support and uplift women.

“… I see it as a very good cause to support because building a career as a woman is very challenging, or can be,” she said.

Ms. Adusei-Poku, speaking about the event expressed that she saw an opportunity to inspire and motivate women in their career paths, and affirmed her commitment and willingness to do so.

“And so, for this opportunity for me to give back to up-and-coming women or people that need mentoring to demonstrate that it is possible to become a successful career woman and mother in this day and age is a worthy cause that I wanted to support,” she indicated.

Ms. Adusei-Poku also reflected on how the event, organised by The Academic Woman Foundation, was brought to life.

She described the conference as a great initiative, which she believes will help women in particular overcome the challenges they face in their career journeys, as well as within the broader career system.

“Dr Anatu Mahama has set up a foundation for women, academic women and general women entrepreneurs or women building a career in this day and age to overcome the barriers that exist in the ecosystem and to see themselves as a builder of great careers that make them unstoppable, that promotes mentorship for up-and-coming new ladies,” she concluded.
