The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor (MP), has reiterated government’s strong commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future during a working visit to the Bui Power Authority (BPA).
The visit, part of the Minister’s ongoing stakeholder engagements within the energy sector, provided an opportunity to assess BPA’s operations, strategic direction, and contributions to national energy stability.
John Jinapor praised the Authority for its crucial role in maintaining power supply reliability, especially during recent periods of high demand.
“We recognise the vital contribution Bui Power makes to our energy mix,” the sector minister said.
“During the recent upgrade by ENI to increase gas supply, one of the reasons we maintained an uninterrupted power supply was due to your strategic operations. As Minister, I remain fully committed to supporting BPA in alignment with our national vision for a green and sustainable energy sector.”
The minister also commended BPA’s forward-looking approach to integrating renewables into the national grid, positioning the Authority as a key player in Ghana’s energy transition.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of BPA, Ing. Kow Eduakwa Sam, welcomed the Minister and expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a reaffirmation of the Ministry’s active oversight and collaboration.
Ing. Sam also highlighted BPA’s alignment with national policy goals, noting the Authority’s investments in renewable energy as a central part of its future strategy.
“We remain fully dedicated to contributing meaningfully to President John Dramani Mahama’s green transition agenda. The Minister’s visit is a clear testament to the Ministry’s supervisory commitment and support,” he said.
Bui Power Authority, which manages the Bui Hydroelectric Dam, has in recent years expanded its renewable energy portfolio, including solar projects and hybrid systems aimed at reducing Ghana’s dependence on fossil fuels.
