A video capturing drills for fresh recruits of the Customs Academy has sparked anger on various social media platforms.

The video which has been in circulation on the various social media channels has the new recruits being subjected to what according to some Ghanaians are inhumane and cruel training drills.

The drill which is referred to ‘Pre-Arrival Drill’ is meant to initiate the recruits into their home where they will be put through physically demanding training sessions.

In the video, the recruits are made to crouch from the main entrance of the training school while carrying their luggage amid beatings from some of their superiors.

This unfortunate incident is however not the first time videos of potential recruits have gone viral on social media.

Last year, a similar incident occurred leading to the death of one of the cadets. George Annoh, 31, was said to have collapsed and died during the drills for all persons enrolled into the Academy.

Alex Aidoo 35 also died in 2013 – his very first day at the academy – when new recruits were taken through the Pre Arrival Exercise.
