British High Commission postpones new visa procedure

The British High Commission said it has postponed the implementation of the new visa fees from August to September this year.

A statement issued in Accra said this has come about as a result of Barclays Bank's indication that it needs more time to " provide a truly effective and efficient service to put the procedures in place"

The Commission last month announced that beginning from August, only bank drafts issued by any branch of Barclays Bank Ghana Limited would be accepted as payment for visa applications.

The bank drafts should be made payable to the British High Commission and must be shown at the gate before applicants will be allowed in.

It said the new policy was part of the Commission's commitment to further improve its visa service and speed up processing of applications in Ghana.

The statement said until September, applicants would be able to continue to pay for their applications in cash and regretted any inconvenience the postponement might have caused.
