British Council stocks KNUST Library with over 800,000 books

Kumasi, May 8, GNA - The British Council on Thursday, donated over 800,000 assorted books worth GH¢50,000 to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Library in Kumasi. The books, which included Business subjects, Computer Science, Engineering among others, were to enable more than 20,000 students as well as the general public have better access to them to enhance teaching and learning.

Mr Moses Anibaba, Director of the British Council, Ghana, who made the donation, said the council, which is well known for library services would continued to render quality services to students, general public and professional bodies to enable them pursue their courses. He noted that in addition to the donation, the council has also planned to sponsor librarians by giving them orientation courses to improve on their performances.

Receiving the books, Professor Kwasi Kwarfo-Adarkwa, Vice-Chancellor of the University said that, for every institution to attain the level of excellence, its library must be given great attention. He said the university was working hard to address some challenges facing the university library through proper monitoring and supervision.
