The Member of Parliament for Kpandai Constituency, Matthew Nyindam, has taken a swipe at the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, over his handling of the ongoing DStv pricing controversy.
Speaking in an interview with JoyNews on October 1, 2025, Nyindam urged the minister to exercise humility in his public engagements.
“The minister should know that the office he holds is a trust bestowed upon him by the people of Ghana and not his bona fide property.
“The best he can do as a young man is to bring down his ego. He should not run down everybody thinking he’s the only wise man in this country,” he said.

He continued to say that; “I listened to him with all his insults, his pomposity and the way he describes whoever he wants in whichever manner. I wouldn’t even want to go there. But Sam should know that we are all Members of Parliament, and we share equal responsibility to protect the public and ensure that, at the end of the day, Ghanaians get the best.”
The controversy stems from a recent shift in position by Samuel Nartey George.
After initially demanding that MultiChoice reduce DStv subscription prices in Ghana, the minister has now emphasised that economic stability, rather than pricing, is the key to resolving the issue.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Monday, September 29, 2025, Sam George praised the Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, for working to stabilise the cedi and the local economy.
He stressed that a strong economy would not only enable companies to operate more efficiently but also encourage further investments in Ghana’s media and entertainment sector.
In August 2025, Sam George had strongly criticised MultiChoice for charging Ghanaian subscribers almost 30% more than consumers in other African countries.
He stated that while Ghana’s premium bouquet cost the equivalent of $83, Nigerian subscribers paid just $29 for the same package.
The minister also pointed out that in June 2024, MultiChoice reduced premium package prices in Liberia by $30, and lower-tier bundles by $17, despite similar market conditions.
Following a series of negotiations between the government of Ghana and the MultiChoice Group, new subscription value adjustments took effect on October 1, 2025.
According to Samuel Nartey George, Ghanaian subscribers can now enjoy between 33% and 50% more value across all packages at no additional cost.
