Brakwa citizens in America motivate teachers with 500 dollars

Brakwa (C/R), March 19, GNA - Brakwa citizens residing in the United States of America have donated 500 dollars as incentives to ten teachers of some core subjects in five Junior High Schools at Brakwa in Asikuma-Odoben Brakwa district as part of efforts to promote education in the area.

The beneficiary English and Mathematics teachers were from the Roman Catholic Junior, Methodist Junior, District Assembly Junior, Presbyterian and Islamic Junior High schools. Presenting the money on behalf of the donors to the teachers at their various schools, Mr Luke Aikins Achenice said, the move was to motivate the teachers to continue to give off their best in their schools to help improve teaching and learning.

He said reports reaching him indicated that 2006/2007 BECE results recorded an improvement over that of 2005/2006 and expressed the hope that both teachers and students would continue to work harder to improve their performances.

Mr Achenice said two years ago the citizens presented 200 dollars and books to some schools in the area. He said teachers of the other two core subjects, Science and Social Studies would also be honoured in due cause.
