A 10-year-old class 3 pupil has died of suffocation after he was trapped in a locked Car for about 10 hours at Akyem New Tafo in the Eastern region.

The incident occurred Monday, March 19, 2018.

The body of the deceased identified as Odei Adarkwa Alex has been deposited at Akyem Tafo Government Hospital.

Meanwhile, the Police has arrested the suspected Driver of the Car to assist with investigations.

Information gathered by Starr News indicates that the deceased, Adarkwa Alex, a student of Feeding Preparatory School was reportedly sacked over a Ghc20 debt and returned home to collect the money from his parents.

A neighbour now in the grips of Police who was driving to town was requested to alight the deceased in school but surprisingly, the driver “locked” Alex in the car, reportedly parked it and joined a commercial vehicle to visit his sick child who was on admission at the Regional Hospital in Koforidua.

A family member, Ofori Boadu, told Starr News that the family of the deceased is scandalized about the incident because the father of the deceased has a car, therefore, Alex knew how to roll up or roll down a car window.

“We are all surprised, because the father of the boy has a car so the boy knows how to roll up and down glasses of a car, so we don’t understand…we are all surprised, we are all moody”.

Meanwhile, the Akyem Tafo District Police Command has confirmed the incident and has begun investigations.
