AFC Bournemouth have dropped right-back Alex Jiménez from their squad for the upcoming Premier League match against Fulham after launching an internal investigation into alleged messages circulating on social media.

The club confirmed they are “aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back Alex Jiménez” and said they “understand the seriousness of the matter” as they look into the allegations.

Jiménez, 21, will not be part of the squad for the match at Craven Cottage on Saturday, May 9, 2026, while the investigation is ongoing.

Screenshots shared online reportedly show the Spain U21 international engaging in conversations with a minor, along with an image allegedly sent from his car with a suggestive caption.

In an official statement, Bournemouth said the matter is currently under review and that no further comment would be made at this stage.

Head coach Andoni Iraola also addressed the situation in his pre-match press conference, stressing that the club must first establish the facts before taking further steps.

He added that the club hopes the allegations are not as serious as suggested.

Jiménez has been one of Bournemouth’s notable performers this season, making over 30 appearances and contributing to their push for a potential European qualification spot.

The defender, valued at around £15 million, has been a consistent starter since joining the club on loan, with an obligation-to-buy clause set to make his move permanent.

The former Real Madrid academy graduate previously spent time at AC Milan before moving to the Premier League, where he has quickly established himself as a regular in Bournemouth’s defensive setup.

The club says it will provide no further updates until the investigation concludes.
