Boakye Djan gives Mills Thumbs up

Major (rtd) Boakye Djan, a member of the defunct Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) has given President Mills thumbs up for the kind of leadership he has provided the country since he was sworn in as President of Ghana.

He declared President Mills founder of a new NDC, opining that it is his humanity and humility which convinced Ghanaians to elect him as President of Ghana.

Major (rtd) Boakye Djan expressed these sentiments yesterday in an exclusive interview with Mugabe Maase, host of the 'Super Morning Show' of Radio Focus, a radio station based in London.

Touching on the current security situation in the country, he said there was no cause for alarm, opining that pockets of cases of lawlessness in the country were internal party wrangling which will have no effect on the country's peace and stability.

He said though a coup was probable at anytime, given the current situation in the country, a successful one was not possible.

He was full of praise for President Mills especially for the way he has handled cases of former office holders accused of one form of financial malfeasance or the other, stating that the President's careful approach indicates that he was not out to witch-hunt anybody.

Boakye Djan said the case of Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, former boss of the GNPC who was persecuted, prosecuted and eventually jailed by the ex-NPP government of J.A Kufuor, is an indictment on the NPP government because the case lasted in the court for over four years.

He opined that the trial of a well investigated case should not last more than a year. President Mills, he said, was on the right track and needs the support of Ghanaians to fulfill his BETTER GHANA agenda.
