Blue chip keeps Stock Exchange riding high

The Accra bourse continued to rise during trading on Wednesday, thanks to another good performance by blue chip Ghana Commercial Bank.

Traded shares, however, slumped by more than half to 30,100 from 66,200 shares on Monday. Only nine of the 25 listed equities did business on Wednesday. The GSE All-Share Index, the main market gauge rose by 3.42 points to 1,580.89 points from 1,577.47 points on Monday.

There were only three price changes - all positive. Ghana Commercial Bank jumped up by ?49 to ?4,801; Metalloplastica Ghana Limited was three cedis richer at ?267 and SSB Bank gained two cedis a ?5,816. Market capitalisation ended the day at ?7,341.00 billion from ?7,316.38 billion.
