Bisiw has no mansion here - Tachimantia citizens

Ken Kuranchie is a liar, Bisiw has no mansion here, - Tachimantia citizens declare

…Daily Searchlight fast becoming “Daily Sell-lies”, they say

By Korku Devitor

The decision by the editor of the Daily Searchlight newspaper, Ken Kuranchie to publish a story without seeing concrete evidence has led him into the lions’ den as residents of Tachimantia are bent on exposing the liar that he is.
The searchlight on Wednesday January 12, 2010 under a banner headline “Minister Grabs Two Mansions” alleged that deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing, Hanna Louisa Bisiw had constructed a multi-bedroom double mansion at Techimantia, in the Tano South Constituency of the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana.
But Kwabena Adu, a resident of the community who spoke to this paper explained that the deputy Minister had a simple four bedroom house by the road leading to Derma, and wondering where the Searchlight had visited to see a multi-room double mansion.

The concerned citizen suspected that the story was planted by detractors of the deputy Minister whom they feared could capture the Tano South seat for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012.

Indeed, the latest story followed the exact pattern of similar falsehoods published by the same paper about President Mills, Central Regional Minister, Hon Ama Benyiwa Doe, and outgoing Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo whom President Mills has re-assigned to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Political observers believe Ken Kuranchie is just being used by big-wigs of opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to carry out their political agenda of demonizing all hard-working appointees of President Mills in order to get them kicked out of government just like George Sipa Yankey or at least create public disaffection for them.

“The fact on the ground is that residents are eagerly waiting to see Dr. Bisiw run for the Tano South parliamentary seat because she has been bringing a lot of development to the place through her own initiative,” Mr. Adu averred.
According to him, Dr. Bisiw organized a football gala last year which she used to unite some feuding factions in the district.

Apart from this, she has built a constituency office for the party, sank two bore-holes in very deprived areas of the constituency. She also got electricity to parts of the constituency that had not yet been connected to the national grid, and is building a mosque for the Muslims there.

Adu told this reporter that after the 2008 general elections; some supporters of the incumbent MP, Agyei Yeboah had gone to stop-up bore holes in some of these communities, because the MP had lost in those communities.

“As we speak now, some friends of the deputy Minister are here preparing the grounds to put up a three-unit classroom block with toilet facilities and a dormitory block with toilet and bath for the secondary school,” he disclosed.
Adu challenged Ken Kuranchie to come to Tachimantia to show to the whole world where the deputy Minister had put up the alleged multi-bedroom double mansion which he published on the front page of his newspaper.

Another resident interviewed joked that the Daily Searchlight was fast becoming Daily Sell lies.

Meanwhile in a rebuttal last week, Dr. Bisiw told Citi news that the Daily Searchlight publication was a pack of lies cooked up by the paper’s Managing Editor, Ken Korankye with the objective of soiling her name and cowing her into silence.

“They should come and show me the two storey-buildings and I will take one of them and give one of them out because I will not need two storey-buildings in the same place. And may be those who build houses should let us know whether from July one can build two-storey buildings” she said.
