Alhaji Alhassan Bashir Alhassan Fuseini, former Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu Constituency, has highlighted two extraordinary events that captured attention following the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

He described the incidents — the birth of a baby in Mecca and the remarkable return of a pilgrim previously pronounced dead — as "positive highlights" of the spiritual journey.

Speaking on Pan African TV's "Hello Zongo" on July 20, Fuseini elaborated on the case of the pilgrim who was mistakenly declared deceased.

What began as devastating news for a family transformed into a joyous celebration when it was discovered that the woman, Hajia Fatima, was, in fact, alive.

"It was a clear case of a mistaken identity. We received news from a hospital that the said name had passed on. It later turned out to be a mistaken identity," Fuseini explained.

He credited the Hajj Task Force for facilitating her return ticket to Ghana.

"So, we thank Allah for the fact that what would have been a loss has returned as a life, and we can only be grateful to the giver of life for preservation and bringing her to reunite with her family," he added.

Fuseini noted that representatives from the Hajj Board swiftly followed up to explain and apologise to the woman's family.

In another heartwarming development, Fuseini shared the news of a baby born during the 2025 Hajj, marking a joyous first for the pilgrimage.

"The board organised a welcome ceremony for the Alhajia and the baby Alhaji," he added.

Fuseini expressed his excitement that both incidents stood as "miracles of Allah," symbolising the gift of life to families during the momentous Hajj 2025.

Background

It would be recalled that based on official documentation, Hajia Fatima, a pilgrim on the 2025 Hajj, had been declared dead.

Her grieving family went ahead to organise her funeral in line with Islamic traditions.

However, in a dramatic twist, Fatima arrived home on Wednesday, July 2, leaving residents in disbelief.

Many in the neighbourhood reportedly fled in fear, believing they had seen a ghost.
